Geminis Ascending
In 2007, I created a collaborative sculpture with artists Marilyn Clements and Barbara Rothenberg. Geminis Ascending was first exhibited at the Silvermine Arts Center gallery in New Canaan, Connecticut.
We began by bringing studio flotsam and jetsam to Marilyn’s workspace, in the hopes that the creative process would eventually result in a piece that spoke in one cohesive voice. Sometimes we worked together; at other times, we worked individually or in pairs, almost like improv musicians picking up where the others had left off. It was a joyous experience, surprisingly free of conflict. Though the DNA of each of our work is clearly present in Geminis Ascending, it is impossible to tease out our individual contributions to the project.
